President’s Cup Regatta

Recently, GBA developed a multi-phased project for assessing the feasibility of producing the historic President's Cup Regatta on the Potomac in 2009. This unlimited hydroplane racing event originated on the Potomac River in 1926 and continued through 1977 when it terminated due to financial stress. GBA, in cooperation with the Unlimited Hydroplane Racing LLC, was commissioned to reinstate this event. Following an intensive assessment and analysis of the event, interfacing with the District of Columbia authorities, Congress, military officials, and the White House, focus was placed on Bolling AFB as the land venue and the Potomac River as the water venue. GBA and the UHR are moving forward to present the event for 2009.
